Understanding Medicare can feel complicated, but we're here to make it simple for you. At Remedial Insurance Agency, we provide expert guidance to help you understand your options and choose the right Medicare coverage for your needs.

What is Medicare?

Medicare is a federal health insurance program primarily for individuals aged 65 and older, as well as certain younger individuals with disabilities. It consists of:

  • Part AHospital Insurance (covers inpatient hospital stays, skilled nursing facility care, hospice, and some home health care).

  • Part BMedical Insurance (covers doctor visits, outpatient care, preventive services, and some home health care).

Important: Medicare Part B has a monthly premium, which most people must pay regardless of the type of Medicare plan they choose.

In 2025, the standard Part B premium is $185.00 per month, an increase of $10.30 from $174.70 in 2024.

If your modified adjusted gross income exceeds certain thresholds, you may be subject to an Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (IRMAA), resulting in higher premiums. For example, individuals with incomes above $106,000 and couples above $212,000 will pay more for Part B.

The only exception is if you qualify for Medicaid, which may help cover this cost.
